Camping at Mt. Charleston
Last weekend we went camping with some friends at Mt. Charleston. We had a blast. It was so beautiful up there. The girls enjoyed exploring, playing with fire, building their own teeter-totter, and sleeping in their very own "girls-only" tent. We hiked to a meadow and the kids had a great time playing freeze tag and red rover. Allie was enjoying herself so much that she dropped her much beloved favorite blankie and left it in the meadow. We discovered we had left it as we were driving back home. The funny thing was, Amelia felt so bad about Allie losing her blankie that she cried all the way home. Allie hadn't a clue and when we got home she seemed content to nap with a different blanket. It's been a week, Allie is still content. Thank you, Mt. Charleston, for freeing us from the dingy, take-me-everywhere blankie and for allowing us to overcome our fear of camping with kids. Our last camping trip was six years ago. Amelia was just a baby and the thoughts that come to mind when I recall that trip are diarrhea diapers, raccoons in the night, and a sleepless baby. Thank you Mt. Charleston for replacing the bad memory with a good one. We actually might go back again next summer!

Allie's Birthday
Allie turned 1 year old yesterday. She loved every bite of her first piece of cake and we found out that she's crazy about balloons. She also decided it was time to take her first steps. She started walking just a couple of days before her birthday, it's like she knew somehow that the special day was coming.
Today we took the girls to see the Las Vegas temple. They loved running around the grounds. They even decided to help out by picking every dandylion flower they could find on the grass.

Happy Valentine's Day
We're excited to be starting our family blog. Here are some pictures of our girls. We had fun playing in the rain the other day. Our kids always get so excited about rain, because in Vegas it's such a rare thing.
Allison will be turning 1 yr. old this week. She is starting to talk a lot. Most of the time it is just cute little nonsense words coming out of her mouth, but it is so cute to listen to. She also loves to "sing" along with the radio when we drive in car. She is still working on taking her first steps, but she is standing all on her own like a pro. She has great balance, but is stubborn. Every time we try to get her to walk she just sits down. She's decided it will happen on her time line and not ours. Looks like we've got another head strong girl on our hands!
Megan just turned four and can be described in two simple words, Drama Queen. She is quite a character. She loves to make up her own songs and dances all day long and has a very big imagination. She definitely keeps our family entertained.
Amelia is 6 yrs. old and is loving 1st grade. She loves her first grade teacher, who she thinks looks a lot like her Grandma Tene. Most of all she loves being a big sister and she's really good at it too. She is very thoughtful and caring towards her little sisters and is very comfortable in her leadership position. She enjoys telling her sisters exactly how they should do everything, but of course they often have ideas of their own and don't have trouble speaking up about it. Her new thing as of late is playing soccer. She has plenty of energy for all the running around, but doesn't really care to be aggressive. Her team has yet to make a single goal this season, so she is very graciously learning the skill of good sportsmanship.
